Who accompanied AMLO in the Cry of Independence?

Mexico City.- Contrary to the ceremonies carried out in previous years, the celebration of the Cry of Independence of this Tuesday was marked by the small number of guests that were allowed at the event due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Among the lucky ones who were gifts in the national celebration there are 70 personalities.

In the ceremony for the 211 anniversary of the Independence of Mexico, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was accompanied by his wife Beatriz Gutiérrez Miller, who remained by his side. In addition, it was attended by the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, who occupied one end of the balcony of the National Palace

The event was also attended by the current Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard. The two officials, along with Sheinbaum and his companions, occupied one of the balconies that overlook the Zócalo in Mexico City during the Cry of Independence.

Another of the balconies was occupied by the Secretary of the Navy, Rafael Ojeda; the security secretary, Rosa Icela Rodríguez; the secretary of Sedena, Luis Cresencio Sandoval; and the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldívar.

The event was also attended by other members of the presidential cabinet, with whom they gave a total of 70 guests to the celebration of the Cry of Independence. Most of them watched from their sites what was broadcast on television and then left the site.

The presidential harangue was followed by a couple of videomapping shows. The first was about the origin of the founding of Tenochtitlán, while the second was the traditional fireworks that illuminated the capital’s Zócalo.

Instead of the classic mariachi songs that are usually heard more frequently at this time of year, singer Lila Downs performed “Latinoamérica” by the Puerto Rican group Calle 13.
