The Popocatepetl volcano presented another explosion, continuing the increase in activity in recent days, according to the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) through the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred).
He also pointed out that the most recent explosion, registered at 18:04 hours, generated a column of steam and gases that had a height of thousand 800 meters, with a low ash content, which spread to the northwest of the country.
While this was added to that of the 11:05 hours, whose column of water vapor, gases and also low ash content, reached the 1.5 kilometers high from the crater, and after which the fall of rocks towards the slope of the crater is recorded.
While, according to Cenapred, four exhalations have been recorded since midnight, whose columns of steam and gases circled one thousand 500 and two thousand meters high.
At this point, the federal agency indicated that in the last 24 hours there have been around 103 exhalations, 83 minutes of tremor and two explosions, to which a volcanic earthquake is added.
About official measures
On the other hand, given the increase in “Don Goyo” activity, the Scientific Advisory Committee of the National Civil Protection System met yesterday to assess the behavior of the volcano and its respective measures.
During this, the scientists marked an exclusion radius of 12 kilometers, in which the incandescent fragments that the volcano is launching could fall, in addition to the low-density explosions, for which they asked the population not to approach.

They also agreed to keep the Volcanic Alert traffic light at Yellow Phase 2, while they highlighted that the activity will remain the same for several days, although it does not exceed that observed between February and March 2019, nor is there evidence of the formation of a new dome over the crater.
