New virus found in Russian bats may be contagious to humans

Researchers discovered a virus in a Russian bat and similar to SARS-CoV-2, capable of entering human cells and would be resistant to vaccines.

Al virus it lacks some of the genes necessary to develop a disease, which could happen when combined with other microorganisms, is still under investigation.

The virus sIt is called Khosta-2 and it is a sarbecovirus, from the same line as SARS-CoV-2, the research team found it can infect human cells and are resistant to the antibodies of the covid-19 vaccines.

The virus comes from russian bats, There is still no real contagion, however, researchers prefer to investigate its progress preventively.

The Khosta-2 shows “some worrying features”, in terms of the speed of contagion, which can allow being in contact with the human cellIt can cause immediate contagion.

The studies will make it possible to anticipate a possible contagion and even a pandemic in the future, deeply analyzing the effects that this can bring, thus avoiding a pandemic like the one experienced with the SARS-CoV-2.
