NBA: Lakers coach Frank Vogel doesn’t feel in danger of losing his job

In statements collected by Kyle Goon, reporter for Southern California News Group, the coach of Los Angeles Lakers, Frank Vogel, mentioned that he does not feel that his position is in danger.

Despite the unstable pace of the Los Angeles team, with a record of 12 wins and 12 losses, the coach assured that he feels the board endorsement, and that he has not had any discussion about his job security.

Vogel, who is in his third season in charge of the Lakers, added that he is only focused on doing his job, and on turning the situation around the team in the NBA season.

LeBron, defend Vogel

One of the team leaders, LeBron James, defended his coach, taking the blame for the franchise’s inconsistent pace, ensuring that players need to do a much better job, according to an article published by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“I think criticism comes with work, you know?” James said after Monday’s practice. “Frank is a strong-minded guy. He has a great coaching staff. And we, as his players, have to do a better job of going out and producing on the court,” James said.

According to the McMenamin article, Vogel has a record of 106 wins and 61 losses, which translates to a 63.5 winning percentage, the sixth-best figure in franchise history for any coach with at least 100 games.

In the playoffs, Vogel’s record with the Lakers is the third best in team history, with 18 wins and 9 losses (66.7%), behind Pat Riley with 68.5 and Paul Westhead 68.4.
