Mexico.- The Mexican coach Maribel Dominguez, former goalkeeper of Spanish Barcelona, declared this Wednesday surprised with the offensive power of her compatriots in the Liga MX Women, and said he was confident of being able to put together a solid under-20 team to take it to the World Cup that Costa Rica will organize in 2022.
“We have a united team in the U-20s that understands the concept of what we want: to represent Mexico with pride. I love interacting with them, I am a strong demanding coach, but I like to be a friend and companion of them, share my experience with them and from there they become a family ”, said the also known as ‘Marigol’, who came to be considered one of the best five soccer players in the world.
“What I try to instill in them is the importance of playing for Mexico, of wearing this shield. They must be clear about what it means to play for a national team, to represent Mexico with pride and great enthusiasm for always putting it up high, “the forward who played the 1999 and 2011 World Cups said during a press conference.

The current coach also stood out in the Mexican team which reached the quarterfinals of the 2004 Athens Olympics.
With these successes as a player, the Mexican Soccer Federation opted for Dominguez in January 2021 to lead the U20 selection process that seeks to qualify for the World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Mexicans will face the Netherlands team this month.
For this match Domínguez has summoned the forwards of the Liga MX Femenil Renae Cuéllar, from Tijuana; Katty Martínez, from Tigres; Alicia Cervantes, from the Chivas; and Alison González, from the Atlas.
“Of the Mexican forwards in the League there are several, like Renae Cuéllar who has always worked and scored goals. There is Katty, the same Alison, who is always there. Alicia Cervantes, who I have known for a long time, are players who have that spirit and desire to score a lot of goals ”, highlighted the U20 coach.
Dominguez said that the Liga MX Women, founded in 2017, is on the right track and has increased its level, to the point that they can perform efficiently in the European leagues.
“All Mexican players have the ability to represent Mexico abroad, it’s just that they make up their minds and have the goal. I do not doubt that every time the European teams turn to our League, there are interesting players ”, he concluded.
