Mexico.- Everything is ready for the combat of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Caleb Plant on November 6 for the supremacy of the super middleweight category but to give him a little more excitement the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the Government of the State of Mexico decided to put one more belt on the line, that’s how he was born the scepter “Teotihuacán” representing Mexican culture.
As is customary in recent years the CMB had been in charge of creating commemorative belts prior to the fights of “Canelo” Álvarez and this before Caleb Plant will not be the exception. Through social networks in a virtual conference this Tuesday, the “Teotihuacán” title belt that the winner of the fight will win was announced.
This scepter was created by the hands of Mexican artisans and artisans with an extraordinary level of detail that joins the collection that has circulated in professional boxing for some years with the titles mazahua, Otomí and Mestizo that coincidentally all are created by Mexican artisans and that Canelo Álvarez shows off from his showcases.

Although within the CMB collection there are 5 other titles that were created under the same circumstances, paying homage to the pre-Hispanic cultures of Mexico such as the Huichol Belt with 2 editions, two more than Chiapaneco Belt and two more editions of Maya Belt. But the editions of May 5 and September 16 occur in top fights like Canelo Álvarez.
“For us it is an honor to have contributed, participated, in these four editions of commemorative belts. It is a pride that our champion has carried the mestizo belt in front of thousands of people,” said the head of the Mexican sport, Máximo Quintana.
“We are very excited with the presentation of this new commemorative belt of Teotihuacán, a very important pre-Hispanic city for Mexicans, the first site that was declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity and now surely in the next few days it will be raised by our champion,” he added .

According to the CMB, this scepter represents the greatness and majesty of the City of the Gods, accompanied by one of the most iconic images of its culture such as Quetzalcóatl’s serpent. Its design is extremely elegant and worthy of recognition that each of the pieces in it were created solely for that design and placed by hand.
Its materials are already known as obsidian, volcanic crystal, one of the things of the region, in addition to 100% Mexican workmanship, placing specific details such as the pyramid of the sun and the moon. It has more than 40 pieces of golden obsidian to stand out with the black color of the leather, same details in gold as letters and outlines that highlight the belt.
This work, created by the brothers Gerardo and Topacio Cuevas Campos, as well as Gerardo Cuevas Nájera, is a special edition made by “Taller de Obsidiana”, a Mexican design firm expert in maquila and creation of pieces made in obsidian with a legacy of three generations.
Knowing this, either of the two boxers would be lucky to have it in their showcases along with the other scepters that they will put into play, on the part of Canelo Álvarez he will have the WBC, WBA and WBO titles on the table, while Caleb Plant the FIB one. The winner will be the master of 168 pounds in the super middleweight team unifying the 4 titles and also taking home the special Teotihuacán title.
