Boxing: Valdez could fight the winner of Herring vs. Stevenson

The current super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Oscar Valdez, after his defense against Robson Conceicao could face the winner of the fight between WBO champion Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson in his next match.

Many fans saw Conceicao win and hoped for a rematch. But the rematch is not in the plans of Valdez and his promoter Bob Arum.

Valdez after his controversial victory declared:

“Hopefully we can go back (to Tucson) against another great fighter. Hopefully it is the one we all want. You know who it is.

“We all love the winner of Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring. Let’s do it. They are great fighters. They are great champions. The best have to fight the best. May the godfather win that night. “

Valdez’s promoter, Bob Arum, was willing to carry out Valdez’s wishes as long as the other fighters he also manages are willing.

“If the fighters want the fight, I have no problem putting Oscar with the winner of Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson,” Arum said.

Arum has already pitted Top Rank stars against each other, such as Teófimo López and Vasyl Lomachenko. A situation that years ago was almost unthinkable.

The current super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Jamel Herring will face Shakur Stevenson on October 23 and Valdez could wait for the winner.
