Attention! Ash fall is expected in 5 municipalities due to “Don Goyo” activity

Due to the recent activity of the Popocatepet volcano, capital authorities alert the general public of the possible ash fall during this Wednesday, September 15.

And it is that the also known “Don Goyo” today at 06:36 hours an ash emission was registered in the direction of the West-Northeast, for which Civil Protection calls for precautions to be taken in CDMX.

The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection foresees the presence of ash in the demarcations of Iztapalapa, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan and Xochimilco.

It is recommended that people cover their nose and mouth with handkerchiefs or face masks, clean eyes and throat with plain water, and wear frame lenses avoiding contact lenses to reduce eye irritation.

It is recommended not to carry out activities in the open air, keeping pets with their food under roofed places, especially in the municipalities mentioned to the southeast of the capital.

Civil Protection adds that citizens must sweep up the ash, put it in garbage bags and dispose of them properly; never throw them down the drain because it can contaminate the water in the area.
