AMLO blames Felipe Calderón and Peña Nieto for the number of homicides in Mexico

Mexico.- This Thursday, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador acknowledged that his government has accumulated more murders than in those of the six-year terms prior to the Fourth Transformation.

However, the current head of the Federal Executive Power made it clear that, despite the record of intentional homicides, his administration will not change the security strategy which it implemented since 2018.

In his morning press conference from the National Palace, President López Obrador, while acknowledging that there have been more murders during his first 4 years of government than all those that occurred in the six-year term of the former president Felipe Calderon Hinojosablamed said former president and Enrique Pena Nieto of having left the homicides “up to the point” to his administration.

“They say that now there are more murders than in the time of Felipe Calderón, yes, only we received the homicides to the top, to the top, and Calderón did not receive the country that way, he led the top and still in the last government ( of Enrique Peña Nieto) they raised it more, “he said.

In this sense, the federal president accused his opponents and critics of “cynics” and “cretins” by pointing out that, until now, his government has more than 100 thousand intentional homicides.

“Now with a level of cynicism, cretinism, they say ‘what a barbarity,’ that is why the pope’s message seemed very balanced to me, these people, the conservatives, would not have wanted that, for the pope to say ‘what violence produces is more suffering’, that was the mentality, the doctrine, the thought that guided the action with Calderón, no, it was sweeping, cleaning and at the same time extorting”, President López Obrador sentenced.

While being questioned about whether the criminal acts that have been recorded in recent days, such as the murders of two Jesuit priests in the state of Chihuahua, they do not rethink the security strategy of his government, the head of state emphasized that quite the opposite, assuring that this is the correct one, since he indicated that the violence that the country registers derives from the “corruption policy” of Calderón Hinojosa.

“You cannot root out, overnight, overnight, a problem that has been going on for years and that was also encouraged, imagine if Felipe Calderón’s Secretary of Public Security was the protector of a criminal group , what happened was very serious,” he remarked after being told that murders have increased over the last 3 years in Mexico.
