After two weeks of returning to face-to-face classes, around 20 public and private schools of the Edomex have temporarily closed due to infections of the Covid-19, while about three teachers have been hospitalized for complications of the disease.
In this regard, the Secretary of Education of the State of Mexico, Gerardo Monroy, pointed out that the twenty educational establishments that have once again resorted to the distance modality is minimal compared to the 22 thousand that make up the register in the entity.
However, with respect to the cases that have occurred among the school community, he said he did not know the exact figure, only that “it is not a very exponential”, And highlighted that in all cases the corresponding follow-up has been given and that in no case are there serious patients.
In this sense, he indicated that three teachers have had to be hospitalized since the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year last August, 31, but that the three “They are teachers who brought a problem of comorbidity”.
And it is that, according to the protocol of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) federal, when a possible positive case of Covid-19 is detected, the case will be notified to the authorities and the isolated person and monitored like the other members of the group to which it belongs to rule out other infections.
Subsequently, the campus authorities must carry out a day of cleaning at the site used by the infected person, while the temporary closure of the campus will be the decision of the management.
They refuse to return to the classroom
On the other hand, Gerardo Monroy pointed out that, of the more than 4 million students basic level in the Mexican entity, almost half preferred to return to the classroom, with 2 million 300 thousand, while the rest are kept in virtual mode.
However, he added that as the weeks go by, more students have signed up for both modalities, in addition to that more and more minors return to the face-to-face classes.

Although he noted that teachers remain in provision to continue with the distance modality with whoever has preferred it, ruling out annoyances between the unions.
